The old town of Chania spreading around the old Venetian harbor is the most beautiful area of the town. The neoclassical buildings and historical monuments drive you to another era. At the coastal road of Chania is where the nightlife of the town is concentrated with lots of bars and nightclubs. Stroll around the narrow streets of the old city to discover restaurants and taverns serving traditional local dishes. Also visit the municipality's open market at Chania where you can find a great variety of local products. 
The Gorge of Samaria is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. Walking through it is a unique experience but is only recommended to persons with good physical condition. Elafonisi the islet joined to the body of Crete by a shallow reef that can easily be wade along with Falasarna's long sandy beach at the north part of Chania prefecture are two places that must be visited.
