The central square of Corfu town is Spianada Square. It is worth visiting Esplanade since the commercial center of the town spreads around it. On Esplanade there are a lot of coffee shops, the commercial market that spreads around it in the alleys as well as the cricket field. Don't hesitate to be lost in the beautiful narrow alleys that reminding Venice, around the Esplanade, it is highly recommended.
Rent a car to visit the villages and beaches on Corfu island. A few recommended areas are Lakones village from where you experience a magnificent view of the traditional Paleokastritsa village and the strange shapes of the gulfs beneath it. The "Achilleio" palace of Princess Sissy situated at Gastouri village near Corfu town and Pontikonisi, where the church of Pantokratora is situated. For your swimming I suggest Sidari beach and Glyfada, a beautiful sandy beach with many beach bars, loud music and lots of people.
